Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Rewire the past, Reclaim the present

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help you heal from the emotional impact of trauma and shift longstanding patterns that may be limiting you, whether rooted in a single distressing event, or relational and developmental unresolved wounds.

How EMDR Works

When we experience overwhelming events, the brain can store memories in a way that is fragmented or “stuck”, leaving echoes that replay in our thoughts, emotions, and bodies. Even with self-awareness, insight alone isn’t always enough to break the cycle. EMDR helps your brain reprocess these experiences using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping), allowing the emotional charge to ease and the memory to be stored in a more adaptive, empowering way. You remain fully in control throughout the process, and many clients find relief without needing to recount every detail of what happened.

This process draws on:

  • Cognitive reframing to shift limiting beliefs
  • Brief exposure to safely access and resolve unprocessed memories.
  • Mindfulness and grounding tools to stay present and supported
  • Somatic awareness to work at a deep level and engage the body in the healing process

Clients often report feeling lighter, calmer, more in control, and better able to recall past events without emotional overwhelm or physical symptoms.

EMDR can be helpful for

Originally developed to treat PTSD, EMDR is now recognised as an effective approach for a broad spectrum of issues, including:

  • Anxiety and panic
  • Perfectionism & imposter syndrome
  • Obsessive thoughts & compulsions
  • Addictions & self-sabotaging behaviours
  • Complex trauma & childhood wounds
  • Grief and mourning
  • birth trauma
  • chronic pain
  • Low self-esteem

and many more….

Attachment-Focused EMDR

For those with relational trauma, early neglect, or a persistent sense of disconnection, Attachment-Focused EMDR offers a deeply reparative path. This approach focuses on healing insecure attachment patterns and helping you form more secure, fulfilling connections—with others and with yourself. It can also address intergenerational trauma and emotional blocks passed down through families.

Trauma Processing Without Full Disclosure

You don’t have to relive every detail of your trauma to heal. EMDR can be adapted using approaches such as:

  • The Blind Protocol, which allows you to process memories without sharing them aloud
  • The Flash Technique, a gentle method that reduces distress before processing more directly

Six-Day  EMDR Intensives

A private, personalised EMDR intensive designed to help you find relief and reach your goals over a condensed period of time. Delivered online, this format allows you to accelerate your progress more quickly than traditional weekly therapy, working through what you need, without the gaps in between.

The intensive format consists of 60-minute sessions, rather than the standard 50-minute therapy hour, which are closely spaced together, creating a sustained focus that can make a real difference in a short period of time. In addition to the therapeutic benefits, this intensive package is also designed to be cost-effective. By combining multiple sessions into a structured programme, clients receive more therapeutic time and support at a lower effective rate than booking the equivalent number of individual sessions.

This may be right for you if you:

  • Have a busy schedule with work, study, family or other commitments
  • Are dealing with something that is significantly affecting your day-to-day functioning
  • Have an upcoming event, such as a job interview, a flight, or a presentation, and want to prepare
  • You have a clear, focused goal

Examples of issues:

A single traumatic incident

A specific phobia

Performance anxiety

Targeted workplace trauma
